Producer: Larry Williams
Larry came to know the Lord at the age of 8 and grew up in a wonderful Christian home. He has been married for many years (Larry says, “I know how many, but nobody believes me” ) to Kay, whom he rates as the most wonderful woman in the world. They have one son, James, married to Julie, who works as an attorney in Phoenix.
Larry started working in radio in Dallas while in high school, and continued while going to college.
After graduating from UTA with a degree in Accounting, he went to work for a CPA firm in Dallas, doing tax, audit, and management services, eventually becoming a partner in the firm.
He was a devoted listener to KCBI when he heard it announced that they had an opening for an announcer for Saturday and Sunday evenings. He applied and started working there in August 1989.
In August 1990, the General Manager,Carl Singer, asked if he could do the news on “The Morning Program” for 3 months until the person they hired could start work. He started the day Saddam Hussein and the Iraq troops invaded Kuwait.
While working for KCBI, he began to sense the Lord leading him very clearly to move to full-time work there. Soon, the General Manager said they would be adding the San Angelo and Frederick, Oklahoma stations in the next few months and asked if he would consider coming to work for KCBI as CPA on staff to manage all the financial and accounting responsibilities for Criswell Radio Network. He also said he wanted to add programming in the afternoon similar to “The Morning Program”, and he wanted Larry to do news in the afternoon. So in December 1990, he began working full-time at KCBI, as “Controller”, handling financial and accounting responsibilities in the morning, and as “Assistant News Director” doing the news in the afternoon.
In June 1995, the President of Criswell College, Dr. Richard Melick, asked him to come to the college as “Controller” overseeing the accounting for both the College and the Criswell Radio Network.
In January 2001, the next President, Dr. Richard Wells, asked him to assume the title of “Chief Financial Officer” for both the College and the Communications Division, as it came to be known.
In September 2005, the next President, Dr. Jerry Johnson, said he wanted to begin doing a daily, one-hour Christian worldview talk show on KCBI and its sister stations. He asked Larry to help him develop the concept and sound of “Jerry Johnson Live”, and to produce the show on a daily basis. That show launched January 9, 2006.
In August 2008, after Jerry Johnson’s resignation, Larry collaborated with Dr. Barry Creamer to develop and launch the new show, “Live From Criswell”, in about a week’s time.
Personal interests include doing voice-overs for personal ministry projects and church productions, and photographing God’s incredible Creation and the joy of weddings. His wife operates the wedding photography business.
